About Us

The Holy Life Tabernacle church ministry is celebrating more than 36 years of fruitful Spirit-filled ministry in the Brookings area. Pastor Dave Kaufman, a 1975 SDSU graduate and his wife, Jeanne, returned to Brookings to pioneer this vibrant non-denominational church in 1981.

The Holy Life multi-cultural congregation of 300 is filled with loving and friendly people. The joyful atmosphere is punctuated with lively worship and you can always hear an encouraging word of victory at each service. We desire to follow JESUS' footsteps and spread FAITH where there is doubt, HOPE where there is despair, and LOVE where there is hate. Church services are held every Sunday at their facility at 241 Mustang Pass in Brookings. Sunday School for all ages is at 9:00AM, worship services are at 10:00AM and 6:30PM, and a Wednesday night Hour of Power service is at 7:00PM.

The Holy Life church has grown much over the years as they have proclaimed the Good News of Jesus Christ. The excitement for the Lord has caused many people to say, "A church alive is worth the drive." As a result of the Bible teaching and encouragement for all believers to serve the Lord; there are pastors, missionaries and Christian workers all over the world that have been sent out from the Holy Life congregation.Associate Pastor Kevin and Cindy Suiter also work with Pastor Dave and Jeanne on the full-time staff. There are many other layworkers who serve in the local ministry as well. Together, the Holy Life church hosts two Charismatic Pastors Conferences each year that reach over 200 other churches and ministries from many backgrounds across the Midwest with encouragement and support.

In the future, the church is looking at expansion in all areas of ministry. They are in the initial planing stages for a 500-seat sanctuary addition of 19,000 sq. ft. Their present 9,200 sq. ft. building would then become a youth ministry center and fellowship hall. We prayerfully believe that God's love will be manifested in even greater ways throughout the Brookings area in the coming years. As longstanding members of the Brookings Ministerial Association, we are working hard along with others to make Brookings a very special place to live. Come and worship with us as we grow together in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Don't just watch us grow; come and grow with us.
